Crescent Cottage was built in 1881 by Brigadier General Powell Clayton of the Union Army and Ninth Governor of Arkansas and his wife Adaline. The home is a classic Queen Anne Victorian and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The interior of the home was completely rebuilt following a fire in September 2017 and received the 2019 Eureka Springs Preservation Society Phoenix Award for the Restoration of a Residence.
The main floor of the home has a beautiful parlor and dining room separated by an arched doorway, while coffered ceilings and crystal period lighting add an elegant touch. A spacious
new kitchen with granite counters and custom cabinets, a family room and a half bath complete the main floor. The upstairs has three suites with spacious baths and a reading room in the tower. The lower level has two large suites with gas-log fireplaces, beautiful spa-like baths and sitting areas. A large utility/laundry room completes the lower level.
Double porches on the back have great views of East Mountain. Crescent Cottage has
a grandfathered bed and breakfast license if a new owner wants to continue operating the home as an inn. The appraisal price is based on residential sales and does not include furnishings, which are negotiable. Detached garage and parking on Spring Street. Easy walk to downtown shopping and dining.
